At the 2016 Queensland Wine Awards on 7 September, Clovely Estate Semillon 2013 was awarded a trophy as Champion Mainstream Variety White Wine and also received a gold medal. The Left Field Semillon 2010, 2013 and 2014 won a trophy as Outstanding Wine of Provenance.
The 2014 Cordon Cut Semillon and 2010 Semillon both received silver medals and the 2013 Petit Verdot and 2013 Liqueur Grenache won bronze.
The awards followed a similar impressive performance at last year’s Queensland Wine Awards.
Clovely Estate Managing Director, Dr Susan Mercer, said Clovely Estate is consistently producing wines that rank amongst Queensland’s – and Australia’s – best.
“It used to be that winning a Queensland award for wine was no big deal but these days the competition is strong and the quality of wines is outstanding,” Dr Mercer said.
“We are delighted to be recognised for producing consistently good wines that are amongst the winners in many categories and can stand alongside Australia’s best.”
Clovely Estate’s founder and owner, Brett Heading, was presented with the 2020 Samuel Bassett Award, which recognises his significant contribution to the Queensland wine industry.
